Staff start recording during an allowed shift. The desktop app captures the full screen, splits sessions into manageable chunks, and uploads to your Google Drive in the background. Recording is only permitted when the shift (or anytime shift), quota, subscription, and Drive connection are valid — and it can auto-stop when the shift ends or the machine locks.

Only during allowed shifts (scheduled or anytime). Staff press Start on the desktop app when they are on a valid shift. The app will not record outside that window. It auto-stops when the shift ends, quota runs out, or (unless the agency enables keep-recording-when-idle) the screen locks or the display turns off.

Staff start recording manually in the desktop app. Start only works with an active subscription or trial, Google Drive connected, screen-recording permission, an allowed shift, and remaining quota. Stop happens when staff press Stop, the shift ends, quota runs out, or the machine locks / display turns off unless the agency turns on keep-recording-when-idle.

Video files live in your agency Google Drive (My Drive / StaffRecorder / Recordings). Staff Recorder stores metadata only — staff, shift, timestamps, duration, Drive file id, and upload status. It does not keep a permanent copy of the video outside your Drive.

Directly from completed recordings. Recorded time is compared to shift hours minus break, and capped at that shift quota. Overtime applies only on anytime shifts. Deleting a recording recalculates attendance for that person and day.
